chloe looked stunned for a moment, then nick quickly added something to save himself some pride.
'it's alright if you refuse. i was just wondering if you had anybody to show you around town, ya know, and like it's part of my apology for blasting nirvana last night.'
chloe smiled at the futile attempt of a guy's way of pride saving, and replied, 'i'd love to have dinner with you. and i wouldn't mind having someone to show me around town. although it's not my first time in new york, but i haven't really got the chance to look around.'
nick sighed in relief as the elevator door opened, 'umm, so i'll come over at around 6.30?' he asked, as he held the door open for chloe.
'sure,' chloe replied, and smiled at him. enjoying the boyish grin on his face. she stepped out of the elevator, and nick followed behind.
they said their goodbyes, and as chloe turned to close the door, she spotted nick grinning like mad, and pumping his fists in the air. she grinned and felt a rush of adrenaline.
'get a grip on yourself! it's not the first time a guy asked you out!' chloe scolded herself.
a sudden realisation hit chloe. she hadn't brought anything really formal enough for dinner. well, that's if they dined at some posh place. the only clothes she brought were her power suits, casual clothes and her pyjamas. chloe thought of popping over and telling nick that he should go somewhere less formal, then decided against it.
'what's wrong with you? he wouldn't care what you're wearing! well, if he's so dense as to judge you on your attire, he isn't worth your time!' chloe wondered what was wrong with her that day. she was so tense, and kept thinking about nick.
chloe decided to take a long hot bath to relax, before her date with nick, and she decided to wear her glittery jeans, plain tank top and her denim jacket with faux fur.
'so, didya ask her out??' andy pressed nick for an answer.
'who?' nick feigned innocence.
'oh cut the crap! chloe!! stop keeping me in suspense!' andy scolded.
'oh, alright... i did. and she agreed. i'm bringing her out to dinner. where d'ya think i should bring her? somewhere formal? but i didn't bring anything formal to wear. didn't think i'd need it...' nick asked andy.
'i doubt she brought anything formal either... have you asked where she was from? maybe you can take her out to formal dinner another time. and i think, first dates shouldn't be at posh restaurants, you'd give her a false impression that you are the kind of high maintenance people,' andy pointed out.
'this is embarassing... it's not the first time i've been on a date, but she's making me so nervous. like i don't know what to do...' nick confessed.
'that's a good thing in a way, this shows that she means alot to ya. am i your bodyguard or your love advisor? i should leave you to think of where you wanna go and stuff... seeya later,' andy excused himself, and went out of the room.
nick dumped everything out of his suitcase, and tried to find something to wear. finally deciding on a pair of worn jeans and a black tee, going for the casual look with his denim jacket with artistically cut of holes that frayed.
finally, time passed, and it was half past six. chloe tried to fit into her own skin and be herself. finally deciding to leave her hair down, after numerous hairstyles. she slipped her jacket on, when the doorbell rang, and with a pounding heart went to open the door.
'hey, ready to go?' nick greeted, with a slight blush on his face.
'sure. i see that you're wearing something casual. i didn't have anything formal, and i was kinda afraid that we would be going someplace posh.' chloe admitted, trying to act normal around nick, when he looked so cute with his hair all over the place, spiked up.
'oh... i didn't have anything formal to wear either... umm... how does pizza sound? i know of this quiet place with great pizza and lemonade.' nick asked.
'sure! i love pizza! i think we should go, cos andy's like glaring at you.' chloe noticed andy standing at the lift landing.
'after you mi'lady.' nick grinned his heart melting grin, and chloe felt her legs turn into jell-o. and tried to walk.
